Acts 4:20 ( Amplified Bible)
20But we [ourselves] cannot help telling what we have seen and heard.
I want to pose a question today, and that question is: Is your life telling the story of who Christ is in you? Can people see the evidence through your daily walk and not just the lip service?
If you take the time to read the previous verses in Chapter 4 of the book of Acts, you will see that the religious leaders were upset because the Apostles were teaching the people and preaching through Jesus the resurrection of the dead.
Acts 4:2 ( King James Version)
” Being grieved that they taught the people, and preached through Jesus the resurrection from the dead.”
The Apostles when being questioned about in what power, what name had they done this ( the were talking about the healing of the man who had been lame since birth see Acts chapter 3), the Apostles with boldness let the leaders know that it was done in the name of Jesus Christ. Well of course the leaders didn’t want to hear that and they defiantly didn’t want the Apostles to keep teaching it so they decided to threaten them and commanded them to keep silent and to not teach or speak at all the name of Jesus.

“But that it spread no further among the people, let us straitly threaten them, that they speak henceforth to no man in this name.”
Now the Apostles gave a response that I simply just love and that was:

The Apostles knew what I have come to learn in life, and that is when you have been with the Lord and you become a witness to his wonderful and marvelous works, you just cant help but to tell it. The word tell means:
1.To count, enumerate;
2.to relate in detail
3.to narrate; to give utterance
4.to say;to make known: divulge, reveal
5.to give information; to inform
6.to ensure emphatically
7.to order, direct
8.to find out by observing: recognize
9.to act as an informer
10.to serve as evidence or indication
11.to have a marked effect
The world should be able to find out who we are by observation. Our walk should tell the story. People are looking at you to see how you respond under pressure; do you pray and praise or do you lift your hands in defeat? Do you curse and go off or do you bless and go somewhere and seek the face of God? People are looking for evidence of who you claim to be.
Your job is to act as an informer. When you see others who are trapped in bondage, unable to see the light of day and who don’t know the mighty Christ that you serve, you are to tell them. You are to speak what you know to be truth. You are to release your testimony of how you have come to a certain place in your walk. Tell somebody how you got over. Tell somebody how you were healed. The lame man in chapter 3 of Acts was so excited and so grateful for his healing that he leaped, he shouted, he praised and gave God the glory and he did it for all to see. In a sense he was saying look at what God did for me!
Serving God should be no secret.I have seen too many people sit back and act like their walk with the Lord is a big secret, you can see no obvious evidence of who Christ is in them. They act just like everybody else publicly and behind closed doors they are a whole different person. I need to know what is there to be ashamed of? Nothing. So what your family doesn’t get you and they don’t understand why you are so peculiar. That is not a reason to hide who you really are and whose you are. Trust me I do understand what it feels like to have your family and friends not get you, but I have come to learn that I can’t fit in because I was destined to stand out. So my life has to reveal the mighty Christ. People have to see the God in me ( thank you Mary Mary). I don’t care what comes along, there is not one person who is going to shut me up or shut me down when it comes to being a snitch for Jesus….. ( a snitch is an informer).
side note : My grandfather nicknamed me gabby as a little girl. I don’t think he understood how prophetic that was!!! It’s a badge I wear in the Kingdom with honor.Every time the enemy comes trying to knock me off my square; I keep on talking about the goodness, the grace, the mercy, the favor and the awesomeness of God. It’s my way of telling the devil In Your Face! ( Thank You Elder Cook).
I promise you I am going to:
Keep fighting, keep praying, keep fasting,keep pressing, progressing, keep moving,keep reading, interceding, keep believing,keep trusting, keep trying, keep travailing, keep living, keep giving, keep going,keep fighting until my victory is won. Why am I going to do that? Because God has the final say!
So today allow me to encourage you to be a witness. Don’t just talk about it. let others see the evidence of who you are and whose you are. When the enemy tries to shut you down, silence you and tell you what you can’t do just :
Keep fighting, keep praying, keep fasting,keep pressing, progressing, keep moving,keep reading, interceding, keep believing,keep trusting, keep trying, keep travailing, keep living, keep giving, keep going,keep fighting until my victory is won. Why are you going to do that?Because God has the final say! Continue to stand on the Word of God.
