The scripture is coming from Psalm 37:8-9 ( New Living Translation)
Stop being angry! Turn from your rage! Do not loose your temper- it only leads to harm.
For the wicked will be destroyed, but those who trust the Lord will possess the land.
Thought For The Day:
The scripture is very clear on a few points and that is to stop being angry, turn from your rage and not to loose your temper. Now lets look at this for a moment shall we. When we get so worked up over something we then go into a rage. Whether the rage is internal or external is sometimes dependent upon what the situation. Hence road rage. Most of the time an individual is already worked up about somethings internally but the moment someone sets them off the begin to manifest externally. Some of you know exactly what I am talking about. Be running late for something and your already mad because your late and someone comes along and cuts you off, or jumps ahead of you and slows down to the pace of a turtle. Some of you start speaking in a language and we all know it is not your holy language! you have moved from anger to rage. The bible says to turn from something. So if you are looking at rage then you need to turn away from it so that it is no longer in your eyesight. So we may have to pull off to the shoulder and do some deep breaths and get our composure back.
The bible also says that we are not to loose our tempers. Wow how many of us are guilty of loosing our tempers? I know I have been there on a many occasions and lets just thank God for grace and mercy on my behalf shall we. I know I was something else in my day. the scripture goes on to tell us why we are not to loose our temper, there is a consequence when we do so the result is it only leads to harm. Does it harm you? Not always, however, when you fly off the handle your more likely to say or do something that you really don’t mean. You will sow seeds of discouragement, confusion, fear, hurt and negativity into someones life. Those very seeds may take up root and cause the individual to miss destiny as they may shut down and never unleash their true potential. Many of us have never even looked at things that way. But is that not harm. I tell you the Word of God is true.
Lets go a little further shall we? Verse 9 goes on to tell us that the wicked will be destroyed and those who trust in the Lord will possess the land. Is there anybody besides myself who has some land to claim? Don’t get angry when folk do you wrong. Don’t get angry when folk talk about you and try to attack your character. Don’t have a fit when your passed up for a promotion that you know you deserve. Don’t let them see you sweat! The same individuals who try to tear you apart and scandalize your name will be destroyed, They just might be sitting pretty up top but its only for a season. You just trust in the Lord. Now let me say this. We all talk about walking in faith, but do you not know that when your walking in faith you must TRUST God? and you have got to know him before you can trust him. Psalm 9:10 says : ” And they that know thy name will put there trust in thee: for thou Lord, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.” How do you know God? By developing and cultivating a relationship with him. I mean would you hand over the keys to your home or car to someone whom you do not know? ( thanks Elder Robin for that scenario) Of course you wouldn’t and if you did, may I suggest your seeking professional help at this time. So just as you nurture and develop your personal relationship here in the earth realm, you must do the same with the Father.
I’m sure there are some folk reading this who have some work to do. I know there are some people who have some land to collect. God is good and he is faithful and he takes care of his own. So family, let us stop being angry, turn from rage, and and don’t loose your temper! Go and possess your land!
Be Blessed,
